News Community Food safety topic of December LNO program

Door prize winners for Ladies Night Out in November were: Judi Longworth, Gay Todsen, RB Greenwood, Kristin Marling, and Barbara Gilmore. Join in the fun of learning and spending time with friends at the next LNO meeting on Dec. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at AMC.At the upcoming Dec. 27 Ladies Night Out Program, (LNO) the topic will be Food Safety. Food safety is a scientific discipline describing handling, preparation and storage of food in ways that prevent food borne illness. This includes a number of routines that should be followed to avoid potentially severe health hazards. Guest speaker will be Kristen Brant, MS, RD, LDN, Clinical Dietician for Angel Medical Center.

LNO will continue to offer free mammograms to women who qualify for the BCCCP program and have scheduled appointments. For more information, contact Dawn Wilde, Community Health Promotion Supervisor at Macon County Public Health at (828)349-2426.

Ladies Night Out is a partnership between Macon County Public Health and Angel Medical Center to provide free monthly programs on a variety of health topics for women with an emphasis on the importance of regular health screenings. The Franklin Bi-Lo and Fatz of Franklin are corporate sponsors of the programs and provide snacks and door prizes each month. These programs are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at AMC.
