News Community FYP launches community service projects

Members of Franklin Young Professionals (FYP) held an end of the year gathering to celebrate all the community service accomplishments the group achieved in 2011. FYP is proud to now be a well rooted organization in Franklin, while continuously growing the group’s membership and community outreach.

Currently FYP is teaming up with CareNet to collect food donations for the Weekend Backpack Program. FYP member Ryan Finn with Franklin Tractor Services, donated $150.00 to CareNet in honor of Franklin Young Professionals during the end of the year gathering. The members of FYP have raised more than $300 for the Weekend Backpack Project as well as collected hundreds of pounds of food for Macon County’s students. Contact any FYP member for more information or if you want to donate.

The organization adopted a portion of the road that covers the Palmer/Porter Street intersection through the by-pass near Franklin High School. The group is excited to have the opportunity to help beautify Franklin. During the first clean up held earlier this fall, FYP collected 10 bags of garbage. As one of the many ongoing community service projects headed by FYP, the group plans to clean up the roadside four times a year.

In January, FYP will be teaming up with Patrick Jenkins of Farm Bureau Insurance to help with the Cold for a Cause project.
