News Community Jackson County honors its veterans

A candlelight vigil honoring U. S. military veterans was held Friday night, Dec. 30, at the Jackson County Courthouse steps.

The non-partisan event, attended by more than 50 people, commemorated the end of the Iraq War and acknowledged the sacrifices made by so many.

Veterans attending represented the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines.

Veterans pictured on the front row (L-R) are Mike Clayton, Roy Burnette, Bob Ray, Karl Nicholas, Phil Haire and Jim Nicholl; second row is Maurice Moody.

Not pictured is veteran Ben Bridgers who also attended the event.
