Not only is his eyesight so poor that he mistakenly asks a letter box on a date, but an angry demon is seeking revenge for Samuel’s part in foiling his invasion of Earth. It wants to get its claws on Samuel, and when Samuel and his faithful dachshund, Boswell, are pulled through a portal into the dark realm, the home of the Infernals, it gets its chance.

Griffiths, Elly. The House at Sea’s End.

Ruth Galloway, the beloved forensic archeologist, has just been called back from maternity leave to investigate when human bones surface on a remote Norfolk beach. Ruth is finding it difficult to juggle motherhood and work. The presence of DCI Harry Nelson—the married father of her daughter, Kate—does not help.

King, Susan Fraser. Queen Hereafter: A Novel of Margaret of Scotland.

Refugee. Queen. Saint. In eleventh-century Scotland, a young woman strives to fulfill her destiny despite the risk... Shipwrecked on the Scottish coast, a young Saxon princess and her family—including the outlawed Edgar of England— ask sanctuary of the warrior-king Malcolm Canmore, who shrewdly sees the political advantage. He promises to aid Edgar and the Saxon cause in return for the hand of Edgar’s sister, Margaret, in marriage.

Napolitano, Ann. Good Hard Look.

Cookie Himmel embodies every facet of Southern womanhood that Flannery O’Connor lacks: she is revered for her beauty and grace; she is at the helm of every ladies’ organization in town; and she has returned from her time in Manhattan with a rich fiancé, Melvin Whiteson. Melvin has come to Milledgeville to begin a new chapter in his life, but it is not until he meets Flannery that he starts to take a good hard look at the choices he has made. Despite the limitations of her disease, Flannery seems to be more alive than other people, and Melvin is drawn to her like a moth to a candle flame.
