News Community 1 idea, 90 seconds, 1000 dollars = Awesome Business Idea Event

“The Macon County EDC is proud to partner with SiteDart Hosting in sponsoring this exciting competition”, said Tommy Jenkins, EDC director. “Events such as this play an important role in developing local entrepreneurial communities.”

Judy Chapman, manager of Dnet Internet Services, explained. ”Everyone at some time has had an awesome idea for a business. Most of the time, we don’t act on those ideas. A lot of the time, we don’t even share those ideas with anyone that can turn the idea into success. This event provides a platform for creative thinkers of Macon County to pitch their idea for a business, application or even phone app to a panel of business professionals and maybe walk away with some resources to make their idea a reality.

The concept is pretty simple: tell the judges what problem you are solving, how you’re going to solve it with your idea, how you would use $1000 to make it happen, and do all that in 90 seconds. Our judges will select a winner and we will award their selection with some great prizes including a check for $1,000 and a 1 on 1 Mentoring Lunch with a local entrepreneur.”

Start preparing now! The event will begin at 10:00 am on April 7th in the Fun Factory. The winner will be announced on April 10th during the BizWeek 2012 Entrepreneurial Networking Night at The Rathskeller in downtown Franklin.

The entrepreneurial spirit in Macon County is alive and well.
