AT hikers celebration and 18th anniversary Saturday
Coincidence you say?....
April 1, 1994 was the opening day with three eagles soaring in the sky as the Three Eagles Outfitters sign was mounted on the first mini 300 sq. ft. shop in Westgate Plaza.
From these small beginnings with a very modest number of hikers to its present nearly 10, 000 sq. ft. building, Three Eagles still serves AT through hikers — now over 1,000 a year, not including the section hikers, vacation hikers, day hikers, and just those who love the great outdoors.
“It’s been fun to hear and share your stories, triumphs and victories,” said Kevin Kussow, co-owner of the store, who continues to manage the outfitter operation with his sister Jackie. The store was founded originally by their parents in 1994.
“To celebrate, we’re inviting everyone to come and join the party at Three Eagles Outfitters’ 18th anniversary celebration,” said Kussow. “We’re honoring all our AT hikers, friends, and YOU!,” Kussow explained.
Entertainment at the event will feature The Imposters with John Luzzie, Kevin Balich, Big Dave and Franklin’s own “Baldhead” on drums. The band will be playing from 11 til 4 p.m. Saturday.
Hot dogs and chips will be served at noon. Outdoor reps will be setting up with product information throughout the day. Three Eagles Outfitters 18th Anniversary will be held Saturday, March 31 from 9 a.m. til 7 p.m. at 78 Siler Rd., Franklin.
