The Open Door is a newly launched local ministry in Macon County for neighbors without homes.
With many folks affected by the recession, a group of local churches realized there was a growing population of homeless individuals and families that could use some shelter.
Bethel, Hickory Knoll, Patton and Methodist Memorial churches were the first to start the rotation of open doors to the needy on Friday and Saturday nights, with food, fellowship and shelter provided by the volunteers.
Other churches are considering joining the program. Shown here is Janet Harrison explaining the new ministry to the Franklin Kiwanis Club.
