At the upcoming Feb. 22 Ladies Night Out program, the topic will be Dental Health.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, Americans make about 500 million visits to dentists each year. In 2009, an estimated $102 billion was spent on dental services in the United States. Oral health is often taken for granted but it affects people of all ages. Good oral health helps us to speak, smile, smell, taste, chew, swallow and use facial expressions. Poor oral health leads to problems for millions of Americans each year.
The Ladies Night Out speakers will be Julie Perone, RDH, dental hygienist with the Molar Roller and Dr. Jordan Councill, dentist with Macon County Public Health. February’s program is sponsored by Ms. Gay Todsen.
Ladies Night Out is a partnership between Macon County Public Health and Angel Medical Center to provide free monthly programs on a variety of health topics for women with an emphasis on the importance of regular health screenings. The Franklin Bi-Lo is the corporate sponsor and provides snacks and a door prize each month. These programs are held the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at AMC.
