Beta Sigma Phi (Zeta Gamma) recently presented CareNet of Macon County with a $2,000 donation and the Macon County Humane Society also received a $1,000 donation from proceeds they raised during the “Macon Treasures” yard sale which was held earlier this fall.
Just in the month of October 2012, CareNet served almost twice the number of families as in 2011 and expects to distribute more than 40,000 pounds of food in November and December to neighbors in need. CareNet is currently conducting a canned food drive in which community members are asked to fill bags with food, which can be dropped off at the Franklin Press or CareNet building on Bidwell Street.
Beta Sigma Phi is an international organization which promotes fellowship, friendship, and cultural development for women around the globe. Additionally, the group also supports community organizations by fundraising for important causes, and since 2002, Zeta Gamma chapter has contributed more than $83,000 to local initiatives.
