News Community FYP awarded plaque for NC Big Sweep effort

The Franklin Young Professionals were recently awarded a plaque for their participation in the NC Big Sweep river cleanup by Gooder Graphix and Guy Gooder (center). As the Franklin Big Sweep organizer, Gooder made the presentation to FYP President Mandy Snow Lail, and FYP Marketing Chair Matt Bateman.The Franklin Young professionals were recently awarded a plaque for their participation in the NC Big Sweep - river cleanup by Gooder Graphix and Guy Gooder. As the Franklin Big Sweep organizer, Gooder made the presentation to FYP President, Mandy Snow Lail, and FYP Marketing Chair, Matt Bateman at their recent social at Chris & Charlie’s Pizza.

The North Carolina Big Sweep, Inc. is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that plans and coordinates the statewide Big Sweep. The NC Big Sweep’s mission is to create awareness and to encourage good environmental stewardship of our watersheds. This past year, the Franklin Big Sweep focused on several waterways, including: Little Tennessee River, Cullasaja River and Cartoogecheye Creek. In 2012 FYP joined forces with the Franklin Big Sweep as part of its “Macon Waves Ducky Derby” event. The effort brought out 20-plus volunteers that removed well over a metric ton of trash from our waterways.

The Franklin Young Professionals Inc. (FYP) is a group of young professionals sharing the goal of giving back to Franklin through community outreach, volunteering, and participation in local events.
