The newly-formed Mountain Community Orchestra is growing fast. As expected, some sections of the orchestra are growing faster than others. Seats in the woodwinds and brass are pretty well filled but additional experienced string players are urgently needed.
Musicians have a wide range of performance experience, from playing in school bands to professional orchestras. Some musicians haven’t played in years and are experiencing the pleasure of making music again.
Whether you are a seasoned performer or looking for experience among accomplished players, you are welcome at our rehearsals. This is an opportunity to hone your skills among talented musicians.
Present program plans include works by Haydn, Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart, Wagner and Vaughan Williams. Some early music, show tunes and traditional music are expected to be added and performed by a full orchestra and chamber ensembles.
Rehearsals are conducted every Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m. in the band room at the Young Harris College Fine Arts Annex. Visitors are welcome.
