News Community Macon County Fair celebrates 60 Years

Photos by Vickie CarpenterDuring the opening ceremony for Macon County's 60th annual agricultural fair, the Board of Directors took time to recognize eight individuals for their service and dedication to the fair.

Fair Director Jerry Sutton led a special presentation for Mike Corn, who has made it possible for the last seven years for Macon County's FFA (Future Farmers of America) to show cows at the fair.

This year, Corn provided 16 animals for the students of the FFA.

The Board of Directors also recognized Jo Ann Roberts and Martha Stephens for their longtime service to the fair's sewing and needle crafts; Victor Teague, a retired dairy farmer who has participated in the fair since its earliest days; Clayton Ramsey, a retired school administrator who supports the fair through fruit and vegetable co-op and Macon County's Horse Association; Pictured (L-R) are FFA students Nicole Downs, Walter Wood, Alex Houston, Sierra Peppers and Mike Corn.Rev. Wesley Hooper for his contribution to the fair with his chair caning and wood carving; Albert Ramsey, a retired dairy farmer who has contributed to the fair through his agricultural enterprises; and Margaret Ramsey for her work in preserving the heritage of Macon County.
