News Community Franklin holds first night of annual Winter Wonderland

Folks gathered on Main Street in Franklin last Friday for the first of two Friday nights for Winter Wonderland. Robyn B, a children’s store on Main Street, filled the storefront window with a kids craft table. The fun continues this Friday at 6 p.m. for the last night of Winter Wonderland. Photos by Ellen Bishop & Brittney ParkerThe first night of Franklin's annual Winter Wonderland event on Main Street was greeted by unusually warm weather and slight rain sprinkles. Despite the seasonally confused weather, folks gathered the sidewalks to enjoy local shopping, amazing holiday themed window displays, and new this year, a Gingerbread Competition.

Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, town hall was filled with entires from the first annual Gingerbread Competition.

This year's winners are:

2nd place: Revonda Roten
3rd place: Mickey McIver & Susan McGrath
Honorable Mention: Lisa Marling
Honorable Mention: Sarah Dills

Adult Children/Youth Winners:
Grand Champion: Kendall Rumans
2nd place: Abbi Hopkins & Erica Myers
3rd place: Kids from the Awtrey, Coker & Beller Families
Honorable Mention: Clint Cabe
Honorable Mention: Canaan Drake

The People's Choice winner in the competition will be announced next week. Folks can vote for their favorite house for the People’s Choice award again this Friday night at the Gingerbread House Display in the lower level of town hall.

Love lights a tree

During Friday’s Winter Wonderland event, Mary Beth Huston told of how she was overcoming cancer, for the annual Love Lights a Tree event.

All proceeds from the ornaments sold go to benefit Relay for Life of Franklin.
