News Community Stewart marries Smith on Christmas Day

Steve and Amy Stewart of Otto announce the marriage of their daughter, Melanie Elizabeth Stewart to Rodney "Jordan" Smith. The couple was married in an intimate Christmas Day ceremony in the groom's hometown of Wetumpka, Ala.

The groom is the son of Rodney Smith and Donna Williams, and the grandson of Hoyt and Betty Evans, all of Wetumpka. The bride is the granddaughter of Rod and Louise Hughes and Steve and Linda Stewart of Franklin.

Maid of honor was Maggie Stewart, sister of the bride. Best man was Rodney Smith, father of the groom. Abigail Smith, sister of the groom, served as flower girl.

The groom is a Lance Corporal in the United States Marines Corps stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C. He is scheduled to be deployed within the next few months. The bride is currently student teaching at Macon Middle School and will graduate from Western Carolina University in May with a degree in Health and Physical Education.

Wedding announcements will be sent and a wedding shower will be planned for a later date.
