Macon Early College students Gaitry Aruwani and Emily Ritter, have been accepted to attend the 2011 Future Leaders in Healthcare Conference at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, in Pembroke, NC later this month.
The conference is for North Carolina high school students that have demonstrated interest in healthcare as a future career. Through educational workshops, and discussions, the conference provides students with an extraordinary opportunity to be exposed to college life, higher learning opportunities, decision making skills, college resources, and tools for personal growth. The greatest emphasis will be placed on addressing cutting edge and pressing healthcare issues.
Aruwani is a second year student at MEC and considering a career as an Ophthalmologist. Ritter, a first year student at MEC, is exploring various healthcare careers including pediatrics and physical therapy.
Only 24 slots were reserved for students living in Western North Carolina to attend the conference.
