Marvin Cole, famous for his impersonations of Mark Twain will be featured at “Celebrate America” at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 27, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Dr. Cole received his bachelor and master degrees from Western Carolina University. He worked in higher education for 37 years and retired in 1994 after serving 13 years as president of DeKalb College in Atlanta, Ga.
Compelling performances by Cole as Twain have been lauded across the country and on major riverboats like the Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen and the American Queen.
Dr. Cole’s perfectly timed performance includes tall tales and short anecdotes.
Tickets are $12 adult, and $6 for children under 10 and are available at the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce and at the door.
The event is being held to benefit the restoration and preservation of an 1875 historic church now known as Cullasaja Community Center.
