“The Macon County EDC is proud to partner with SiteDart Hosting in sponsoring this exciting competition”, said Tommy Jenkins, EDC director. “Events such as this play an important role in developing local entrepreneurial communities.”

Judy Chapman, manager of Dnet Internet Services, explained. ”Everyone at some time has had an awesome idea for a business. Most of the time, we don’t act on those ideas. A lot of the time, we don’t even share those ideas with anyone that can turn the idea into success. This event provides a platform for creative thinkers of Macon County to pitch their idea for a business, application or even phone app to a panel of business professionals and maybe walk away with some resources to make their idea a reality.


Lyndon B. Johnson Job Corps Center (LBJ) celebrated the accomplishments of 16 graduates with a commencement ceremony in which the recipients received diplomas, GEDs and certificates of completion from their vocational trades.

After members of the Lyndon B. Johnson Gospel Choir sung the National Anthem and performed a musical interlude, The LBJ Student Government Association President, Carolyn Dehart, introduced the Spring Commencement’s Keynote Speaker, Gary Shields.


The American Legion will observe its 93rd anniversary, March 15-17, and Legionnaires of Jackson and Swain counties will celebrate that milestone at the regular 7 pm monthly meeting of William E. Dillard Post 104, Sylva, on Monday, March 12.

The local observance will join those held at over 16,000 American Legion posts, located across the United States and the free world, whose members are proud to be “Veterans Still Serving America.”
