The Kiwanis Club of Franklin, in Macon County, hosted a contingent of officers and trainers of the Franklin Health and Fitness Center during their weekly luncheon at Fat Buddies on May 9.

Kiwanis members heard from ( L-R ) Rodney Morris, general manager of FHFC; Les Slater, Director of Membership FHFC; Sherena Garnett, weight loss participant; and Tiffany Allen, FHFC personal trainer.

President Diane Aiello recognized the outstanding group of professionals who presented a wide variety of services offered by Franklin Health & Fitness Center.


Silver Circle Award presented to Bo Bryant

At the May meeting of Zeta Gamma Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, The Silver Circle Award was presented to Bo Bryant.

This award is given to members who have been active participants in a chapter for 25 years or more.

The award ceremony was held at the home of Mary Quigley.

The North Carolina Farm Bureau and the Macon County Farm Bureau donated $5,000 to the local medical community in Macon County as part of the North Carolina Farm Bureau’s Healthy Living for a Lifetime initiative, which visited the 1050 WFSC Senior Health Fair at the Macon County Community Building in Franklin on April 28th, 2011. During the event, 118 people received free health screenings, including cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, and bone density.

“The North Carolina Farm Bureau understands the need for high-quality and accessible healthcare in rural North Carolina and this donation is just one way that we can help local healthcare providers address the urgent needs of Macon County residents,” said Larry Wooten, president of the North Carolina Farm Bureau.
