Rotary Club of Franklin Kid's Place Club Champion John Henning (L) presents Alisa Ashe (R) of Kid's Place a check for $2000 from the Rotary Club of Franklin.

The club alone, was able to generate $1500 to support Kid's Place from member contributions.

 

 

James A. Wilt, 2012 graduate of Franklin High School, graduated from the United States Marine Corps basic training at Parris Island, S.C. on Jan. 22.

Wilt entered the service in May 2012.

Wilt is the son of Sadie Lavada Rowe of Franklin and Edward Lewis Wilt of N. Charleston, S.C.

 

 

Rotary Club of Franklin President Gary Dills (L) presents Operational Renewal Club Chairman Tom James (R) a check in the amount of $10,000 from Rotary District 7670 to the club's Operation Renewal Project that assists homeless veterans through vocational training and support for their future.

The presentation was made at the Jan. 23 club meeting.

Students at Macon Early College are especially geared toward community service projects. While the unique school offers students the opportunity to get two free years of college education while still in high school, it does come with a cost, a cost the students don't mind at all.

Students at MEC are responsible for completing a number of community service hours as a way of paying it forward. "The students here are given the gift of a two year college education, so they look at community service projects as a way to give back and thank the community for making a difference in their lives," said MEC teacher Nancy Ritter.
