Friends of the Macon County Public Library held their annual meeting on June 5.

The Wayne Proffitt Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Justin McClure and Emily White at Scholarship Night Thursday, May 26.

William Franklin and Marie Louise Blackburn O’Cain are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

The couple were married on June 17, 1961, in Orlando, Fla.

They have two children, Steven M. O’Cain of Crawfordville, Fla., and Daryl C. O’Cain or Raleigh, N.C., and three grandchildren.

The couple will celebrate at a family gathering in Beaufort, N.C. sometime in July.

Carol and Charles Shelton of Franklin, and Jack and Kandi Childress of Hope, Idaho announce the engagement of Carol and Jack’s daughter, Heather Childress to Matthew Radford, son of Henry and Teresa Radford of Rabun Gap, Ga.

The couple are both graduates of Trimont Christian Academy in Franklin.

The bride-elect is employed as a certified pharmacy technician at Kerr Drug in Franklin.

The groom-elect is employed as a plumber by All American Plumbing in Clayton, Ga.

An August 2012 wedding is planned.
