News Education East Franklin gets presidential

Kamylle Waller was Theodore Roosevelt. He designated fifty national forests and 5 national parks, she said.As part of a unit on government and presidents, first grade students at East Franklin Elementary School were assigned presidents to learn about.

On Monday, Presidents Day, the students dressed up as their president and presented some of the things they had learned.

First grade teacher Pam Owens said that the students always have a great time with the yearly activity, but added that most of them are more interested in the presidents’ favorite food or the name of their pet than in their politics.

Owen Downs was Abraham Lincoln. Downs pointed out that he was the first presidents to be assassinated. Sydney Williams was president James A. Garfield. He was born in a log cabin, she explained.
Dakota Williams was Richard Nixon. He was the 37th President from 1969 to 1974. Seth Jacobs was William McKinley. He was the 26th President and was assassinated, explained Jacobs.
Makayla Moore was Grover Cleveland. She stressed the fact that his image is on a $1,000 bill. Preston Clemons was Gerald Ford. He liked to play football.
Carson Tiller was John F. Kennedy. Tiller said Kennedy was the first Boy Scout and youngest President Edward Gomez was Millard Fillmore, who was President for only 3 years.
