News Education Union Academy congratulates 2014 graduating seniors

Graduating seniors at Union Academy eagerly await their diplomas in front of an auditorium packed with supporters.Last Friday, Jan. 17, friends and family members gathered in the gym of Union Academy to support its graduating seniors.

National Guardsman Matthew Ramey gave the Pledge of Allegiance before the ceremony. Ramsey is a graduate of the first class of students to come through Union Academy. Candidate for graduation Nathan Parrish followed with the singing of the National Anthem.

Brittany ThomasBrittany Thomas was awarded this year's Distinguished Student Award and delivered a message to her fellow students and a capacity auditorium.

Macon County Schools Superintendent Dr. Chris Baldwin, congratulated the seniors for their accomplishments and conferred diplomas.

After the graduates received their diplomas, Breanna Teague closed out the ceremony by reading a poem that helped her receive the Young Author's Council Choice Award.
