News State / Region Gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory focuses on Western North Carolina

Pat McCrory, Republican Candidate for Governor of North Carolina, addresses the crowd at the North Jackson County Republican Headquarters Office last Thursday afternoon.On Thursday afternoon, Aug. 30, Pat Mc- Cory, Republican candidate for governor of North Carolina stopped by the Sylva North Jackson County Republican Headquarters Office entertaining them with his humor and then giving his attention to the serious issues facing the state. Republicans, some unaffiliated voters and their guests were not only from Jackson County but also Swain, Haywood and Transylvania counties.

Notables at the Pat McCrory event at Republican Headquarters in Sylva (L-R) Marty Jones, Republican Candidate for Jackson County Commissioner, District 4 and Bob Carpenter, Sylva, long time Republican supporter.McCrory spent several days in Western North Carolina, visiting Asheville, Sylva and Cashiers, speaking with business owners and at fundraisers and gatherings of fellow Republicans. In Sylva he was introduced by NC House of Representatives candidate Mike Clampitt who served as Fire Captain in Charlotte during McCrory’s years as Mayor there. McCrory’s message addressed the improvements needed to better educate North Carolina students, continuing the Republican legislature’s control of state spending and making North Carolina ’s taxes more favorable for businesses to choose expansion here rather than in adjoining states.
