“Real Jobs NC,” “Civitas Action,” and “Americans for Prosperity” are Political Action Groups bankrolled by Art Pope, his family and associates.
Art Pope resides in eastern North Carolina. It is unlikely that he or his associates have ever spent much time in our corner of the state.
In the 2010 election his PACs spend millions of dollars here, trashing Democratic candidates and supporting Republicans. Art Pope is a businessman. He and his associates are buying a product. The product is Republican.
Before purchasing a product it is always a good idea to read the small print. The small print in these ads to support Republicans and smear Democratic candidates reads “This ad is not endorsed by the Republican Party or a particular candidate.” This leaves no one liable for lies.
Consider the words “Republican” and “Democrat” as brand names. When purchasing a product you expect it to perform as advertised.
Art Pope can be confident the politicians his money bought are performing, and will continue to perform, according to his expectations-opposing taxes on wealthy Americans, segregating our public schools, slashing funding for public education, removing laws protecting our natural environment, and eliminating restrictions on the activities of business and financial institutions.
