Opinion Letters Thanks to many who made dinner a success

First Presbyterian Church hosted its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day. We thank all who helped make this event a success this year.

What started as a small outreach to our church family has grown over the years to help meet the needs of our community. This year we served over 300 meals, many more than last year. We, at the church, are very grateful to all who volunteered who make this event possible. Over 50 helpers joined us, and it was particularly wonderful to have so many young people pitch in this year. Their energy and willingness made the work seem light.

We also appreciate C Square and the Stewart family for livening up Tartan Hall with their musical talent and we gratefully acknowledge the financial support of individual donors, the Franklin Rotaries, and other corporate sponsors.

We send a special thank-you to Martha and staff for their help preparing the meal. It was also a real blessing to receive so many donations of desserts from the First Presbyterian Church family, Ridgecrest Baptist, and from friends and neighbors. This allowed us to be generous to our diners so they could enjoy a variety of tasty treats.

It is with heartfelt gratitude we thank all who came to eat and fellowship together. It was a privilege to serve you.
