Opinion Letters CareNet made possible with community support

Dear Editor,

This letter should probably begin as “Dearest Macon County” because it is all inclusive. On behalf of the Macon County Care Network's Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff, thank you for your continued support. Your support has helped to provide hope to many who find themselves at dire straights. Your support has gone towards food boxes, hot meals, backpacks, clothing, warm blankets, electric bills, prescription assistance, the list goes on.

The other day as we were opening in prayer, Doug one of our volunteer’s said he helped carry food boxes for some of our clients to their car. The staff was brought to tears as he relayed the responses from several of the families that cried and hugged him saying how much they appreciated and needed the food.

Yes times are hard. Yes negativity seems to be plenty. Yes nonprofits continue to hold out their hands asking them to be filled. However, that is because the need never ceases, just like the community never ceasing to pull together to show love to their neighbor. Your time, donations, and support, mean a great deal to our clients and staff. Thank you for your generous gifts.

Personally speaking for so many, from the bottom of my heart, may God bless you in return this New Year.

In Christ, Vanessa Bailey
CareNet Executive Director
