Opinion Letters Community drives ‘Cold for a Cause’ success

Three years ago I set out with a vision to put together a donation drive to assist those individuals and families in our county that are in need. For the event to be a success, I knew it had to be an event outside the norm. After much thought and brainstorming, I came up with the name “Cold for a Cause”. I personally felt that if I am going to challenge the people of Macon County to support this event, I need to put forth my own personal challenge. That is where the 48 hours in the crane came about.

Now that the third annual event has come to an end, I am continuously amazed by the response of the individuals, organizations and businesses that stepped forward and assisted their neighbors that are in need. As I have said many times… None of us are immune to having a crisis come into our lives. This event also helps keep me personally in check with reality.

Once again, thank you Macon County for your continued support of this event. I would like to also thank the following organizations and businesses that helped to make this event a success:

Sanders Crane Service, Franklin Young Professionals, Franklin Press, Macon County News, WNCC Radio, WHLC Radio in Highlands, Three Eagles Outfitters, Family Auto Care, Macon Funeral Home, Gooder Grafix, Main Street Coffee, Cash's Barbeque, Stamey's Restaurant, Sunset Restaurant, Cullasaja Fire Dept, Kiwanis Club, All three Ingles Supermarkets, Bi-Lo Supermarket, K-Mart, Wal-Mart.
