We all know it is HARD, HARD economic times these days. Our state is struggling to come up with a budget that can maintain needed services for children and families. In fact, many of the programs we know today will no longer be there tomorrow. The Children’s Home remains committed to continuing to serve as many children and families as possible. Now more than ever – traditional and therapeutic foster parents are needed to provide homes for children who are in need of temporary and sometimes permanent shelter & care.
You Can Help! The Children’s Home is looking for folks just like you to provide a loving and positive environment for the many children referred to them, needing a loving and stable home. Being a foster parent is an enriching, rewarding experience that comes with helping a child in need to build a brighter future. By opening your heart and home, foster parents play a vital role in helping children and families in crisis heal. Children’s Home foster families not only provide temporary homes, safety and nurturing to children, but they also help birth families by ensuring that children can be safely reunited with them. And, when reunification is not possible, many families choose to adopt the children placed in their homes, offering permanency and stability the children may not otherwise know.
The commitment of foster parents leaves an indelible mark on generations to come. You can help to end cycles of neglect, abuse and/or drug addiction. You can help a child be the first in his or her family to finish high school or even go to college. Children leave our foster homes knowing there are many other paths in life than what they have known.
Children’s Home staff will work with you during 40 hours of training, providing the information you will need to work with children who have special needs and who need special support. This training is FREE. Supervisors are available 24/7 to provide you support and guidance and to help ensure you have a positive and rewarding experience. The Children’s Home offers a stipend, depending on the child’s needs, to those who chose to help.
