Opinion Letters Valentine’s Meeting Not So Sweet

I would like to thank Mr. Ron Haven for sitting through the last commissioners meeting and not making rude comments, yawning, whispering to the commissioner next to him, or scribbling notes on a piece of paper and passing them to Chester. I was outraged at some of the commissioner’s behavior while listening to the residents of Macon County voice their opinions on different subjects.

The public looks to these people to listen to their opinion and take it into account before making a decision, is this not why they hold public meetings?

Even if the commissioners don’t agree with some of the opinions the people are attempting to voice, they could at least pretend to be remotely interested. I am speaking for myself and I’m sure that I’m speaking for others as well, but I had other places I could have been on Valentine’s Day other than the courthouse but I felt it was important to show up and listen to other opinions on all the matters that were at hand. For future reference I suggest to the Commissioners to be attentive and at least pretend that you are interested in other people’s opinions whether they agree with your beliefs or not. Again, thank you Mr. Haven for your professionalism and really listening and especially caring about what the residents of Macon County have to say.
