Opinion Letters Thank you citizens of Franklin for your support

The Franklin Community has once again proven how supportive they are. The Franklin Lions Club would like to thank all of our supporters. Without their generosity we would not be able to continue all of our many projects.

Recently we held our annual Chicken BBQ on the 4th of July. This is our only fundraising event to supply our scholarships. We proudly give one high school senior a $1000 scholarship every year for the four years they attend college. We believe in our youth and their future.

We also are currently sponsoring the Children's Film Festival in co-operation with the Ruby Cinemas. This project allows children to go see age appropriate movies during the summer months at no cost to the child. The movies will continue every Tuesday and Thursday until July 26th. All the contributions given to the Lions for this project allow us to do local projects throughout the year. Soon it will be time for school and one of the events we take pride in doing is the vision screening in coordination with the Health Fairs. We also help provide eye exams and glasses for residents in need.

Thank you Franklin for stepping up once again to help our organization. “We Serve” is a motto for Lions all over the world and we enjoy serving this community.

Ruth Hensz-Stilwell — Franklin, N.C.
