Opinion Letters Bills evidence of Davis’ representation

Senator Jim Davis and Art Pope have been running TV and other ads with a common theme, negative ads about John Snow. While Senator Davis has a record, he is running away from it as is the Republican Party on George W. Bush and for the same reason. The record of both is ugly and would be unpopular with the citizens of Western North Carolina.

Senator Davis has slavishly and consistently voted for the agenda of Pope to destroy the Public School System; to implement bills which will benefit large corporations; to saddle the counties with additional expenses and to gerimander the districts of the State.

The first bill that Senator Davis introduced in the Senate would have prevented Disabled Veterans and others getting a free ($10) fishing license, saying this was to balance the budget.

Another bill he co-sponsored with an Eastern North Carolina Senator would have required all homeowners in the state to pay the same premium. That would require you to pay the same premium as a homeowner of a house on the hurricane riddled beaches of North Carolina.

A third bill would have prevented Mission Hospital in Asheville from forming alliances with other hospitals in the area. This would have included Angel Hospital, and, according to officials, would probably have forced it to close. He did not confer with any officials of Angel or Mission Hospitals but did with ones from Park Ridge, which is not in his district.

These are examples of how he has represented and defended the people in his district. You can understand why he does not mention his record in his adds. Don't let him buy another election.
