We all have people we like and want to be around. If we’re really lucky, we might even be related to such people, or, in the case of a family like that of Claire and Joe Suminski, each member of the clan is fun to be around no matter the place or mood.
Every once in a while, however, a person comes along who lights up the room when she enters, who entertains simply because she thrives on being amongst us, and who has much to offer no matter how her day is going. As a community, we Maconians have been doubly blessed with two people like this: Nikki and Scotty Corbin. Sure the entertainment and serenading by the talent appearing at the SMCPA has delighted us, but every show has gotten a boost from Scotty’s uniquely cheery introductions, while Nikki has lent uplifting grace to each performance. They have the right to contribute, and then move on when the spirit of the Lord moves them, but their shoes will be very hard to fill, while the ambience of their presence will linger at the Center not just in our minds, but also in our hearts.
