The Republican state legislators have repeatedly SAID that the $428 million cuts to the public education system would not affect teachers, teachers assistants, or students. State Senator Jim Davis wrote, “Teachers and students... are protected under the new budget... It is a fact that the teachers and the teachers assistants were fully funded in the new state budget.”

Congress has extended the payroll-tax cut because incumbents don’t want to shrink paychecks in an election year. If you make $50,000 per year the extension may save you $1040 per year. In fiscal 2013 the country will borrow 1.33 trillion dollars to cover the projected budget deficit. That means you and every member of your family and everyone you know will each owe $4249 as an individual’s share of the money borrowed. Incumbents are attempting to buy your vote with money we don’t have while putting all of us deeper in debt.

Dear Dr. Brigman,

I have several questions that I have not been able to get from your office for some time. I hope that you can help me. I have questions about our 2012-2013 calendar. I have tried for a month to obtain information vital to thoroughly consider this calendar. In an effort to prevent another contested school calendar, I am hoping that you or the board may be able to answer these questions.

Two articles in the 02-17-12 issue of The Franklin Press caught my eye. One was titled, “Legal or Ethical: The twain don’t meet” the other was “Board axes reference to slope maps”. I am in favor of some sort of disclosure if there is any element that could cause me and my family our lives or life savings although I know this would/could cause a drop in sales a loss of the almighty dollar as it did to Toyota when they had the problem with thier runaway cars.
