‘North Carolina Beautiful’ collaboration by artist William Mangum
The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation has announced its collaboration with North Carolina’s Artist, William Mangum, in his most recent book entitled “North Carolina Beautiful.” This tribute to North Carolina’s beauty and splendor includes more than 140 original pieces of art by Mangum and is accompanied by educational vignettes that reveal how readers can explore, celebrate and protect the Old North State. The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is one of six conservation and preservation nonprofits across the state partnering with Mangum on North Carolina Beautiful. A portion of the sales from Mangum’s book will be gifted to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.
“Our partnership with artist William Mangum on ‘North Carolina Beautiful’ is a wonderful opportunity for the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation to share its message of preserving the past, enhancing the present and safeguarding the future of America’s Favorite Journey – the Blue Ridge Parkway,” says Carolyn Ward, CEO of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. “The Blue Ridge Parkway and its surroundings are some of the most beautiful vistas in the state and this book captures these landscapes exceptionally well.”
Mangum is a renowned North Carolina artist whose successful career spans more than three decades. He began his journey as an artist with a 59 cent tray of watercolors as a senior at UNCG and has developed into one of the premier landscape and architectural artists of his time. Mangum is a prolific artist and has created more than 3,000 original paintings of his beloved North Carolina, as well as scenes from abroad in Austria, Bermuda, Greece, Italy, United Kingdom and numerous places in the Caribbean and Asia. He has exhibited his pieces of art in more than 30 states throughout the country, which include prominent New York museums and art organizations like the National Arts Club, Society of Illustrators, Allied Artists of America, Salmagundi Club and Knickerbocker Artists League.
“It is great to collaborate with the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation on the launch of North Carolina Beautiful,” says Mangum. “The Blue Ridge Parkway and the environment are two aspects of North Carolina that must continue to be protected for future generations. It is my hope that North Carolina Beautiful demonstrates why conservation and preservation is so important to protecting the natural beauty of our state.”
