Just five short years after the program started, and three years under the direction of Coach Sarae Thornton, ambitious young runners have climbed their way to the top and secured first place in the conference championship meet.

According to Thornton, Maleah Langstaff showed great leadership throughout the season, placing first in a majority of the meets. Langstaff finished third at the conference meet after posting her personal best time.

Heidi Shope came in eighth overall in the big conference meet followed by ninth overall Faith Bourq.

Thornton also coaches the boy's cross country team, which was named first runner-up for the season.

Langstaff is pictured with her first place medals earlier in this season’s cross country meets: Western Invitational, Canon Middle School Invitational, Waynesville Invitational, and Macon Middle Invitational.
