Football: The Franklin High School Panthers traveled to Morganton last Friday to play in the first round of the NCHSAA 3A playoffs.

The Freedom Patriots proved to be too much as Freedom overturned Franklin, 42-14.

The Panthers finished the season with an 8-4 record, failing to win a playoff game for just the third time in 12 seasons.

Soccer: After a tremendous season, the FHS Men’s Soccer team lost to the Enka Jets 8-1 last week in the second round of the state playoffs.

Cross Country: Coach Rita Esterwood congratulates the team on a successful season and a great showing at the State Meet. Some new PR’s were set for several of the runners.

Caleb Albrecht came in first for the team breaking his 17:00 minute mark at 16:49, Harrison Connor was close behind and also very close to breaking 17:00 with a time of 17:01.

Third for the team was Coulter Hall 17:33 and close behind him was Kelton Bailey breaking his PR by 30+ seconds with a time of 17:35.

Shawn Marcie ran 18:35, Regan Long 18:59 and Ryan Balmer at 19:32. “These boys worked hard, had a long weekend, and are ready for next season and going to state again next year,” said Esterwood.


Meet the Panthers Night: On Monday, Nov. 26, at 7 pm, FHS will host a "Meet the Panthers" night in the Franklin High School gym. This will be a special night for all of Macon County to come out and show their support for all the winter sports teams.

The teams involved will include Women's and Men's JV and Varsity Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming and Diving, JV and Varsity Cheerleading, FHS Band, Indoor Track, and the Dance team.

The evening will be filled with a night of interactive fun with several teams dancing to their favorite songs, games and introductions of the players, coaches.

Come and join the fun and see firsthand what the teams have in store for the fans this winter season.
