The Highlands Highlanders had a successful basketball season with the varsity boys team posting a 15-11 record and becoming the 2013 regular season champions of the Little Smoky Mountain Conference.

The team lost Monday, Feb. 25, to a tough Robinsville Black Knights team in the first round of the state playoffs, 70-61, ending the young team's season.

After ending the regular season with an 8-17 record and a 2nd place tie in the Little Smoky Mountain Conference, the girls' varsity basketball team has also seen some success with a first round win when they hosted the Queen's Grant Stallions out of Charlotte on Monday.

The game remained close until the last quarter, when the Highlanders pulled out the win, 58-45.

The ladies travelled to Murphy Wednesday to take on the Hiwassee Dam Eagles in the second round of the playoffs.
