Varsity Baseball & Softball

The Franklin High School baseball team hosted the Brevard Blue Devils Tuesday, March 19.

In the first inning, the teams scored two runs each, but the Panthers pulled ahead by three in the second inning, holding the lead at 5-2.

The Blue Devils caught their second wind in the fifth inning, driving in four runs and two more in the sixth.

The Panthers were not able to bounce back, losing 8-5. The loss ended a three-game win streak for Franklin and puts their overall record at 3-2.

The next varsity baseball game will take place at the Macon Middle School field today, when the Panthers play Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School for a second time this year.

RGNS won the first meeting 15-8, but the home team hopes to settle the score with a big win over the Eagles who are 2-3 overall.

The FHS softball team has started their season off strong, and continued to rack up wins when they hosted Brevard Tuesday in another dominant outing.

The Lady Panthers held the Blue Devils to only one run while scoring six themselves, winning 6-1, moving to a 4-0 record.

So far, the Blue Devils have given the Panthers the closest contest of the season. Their last win was a 10-0 blowout over Murphy last Thursday.

The team will travel to Enka today to take on the 2-0 Sugar Jets.
