Annual booster club banquet closes out the year.
Franklin High School held its 31st Annual Athletic Banquet last Wednesday night at the high school gym. The FHS Athletic Booster Club hosted the event. Athletes, friends and family filled the gym floor and a set of bleachers in support of the honorees.
The school honored its Hall of Fame nominees as well. Former coach David Morgan, one of the nominees, coached football, track, cross country, golf, and baseball; served as the Athletic Director, and started the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at FHS.
Nominee Jim Williamson played football and baseball at FHS. He also played at the quarterback position while attending Western Carolina University from 1964-1966. The 2001 state champion varsity baseball team was also nominated this year.
Athletes from all sports and grades were also recognized along with each player who earned an individual player of the week award throughout the year. Scholarships were also awarded along with Athlete of the Year, Team and Athlete of the Year, and Individual Athlete of the Year.
