Last Friday night the Franklin Panthers hosted the North Henderson Knights at the Panther Pit. Entering the game with an undefeated record, the Panthers looked to add another win to their resumé over their 3-4 foe.

After the first quarter, it looked as though the Knights may manage to make a game out of it when they pulled ahead by one after completed a two point conversion on their first scoring drive to put the score at 8-7 to close the quarter. Franklin, however, had other plans as they dominated the rest of the game. The Panther defense was able to hold the Knights scoreless while the Panthers offense put up an additional 37 points for a final score of 44-8. The win moves the Panthers to an 8-0 record.

The NCPreps football poll currently has Franklin ranked at number two in the state for 2A, the Max- Preps football rankings have them at number five for 2A, and they are ranked at number two in the Best of the West rankings just behind undefeated Erwin. As for the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference, FHS sits in the number one spot.

Next up will be the winless East Henderson Eagles when Franklin travels to Flat Rock tomorrow night.
