Lady Panthers look to extend 12-game winning streak
The Lady Panthers continue to keep their game winning streak alive with two dominant wins over the past week. The first came against West Henderson in game that looked like it may be close in the first half, but as they have time and time again this season, Franklin ended up on top at the end of the fourth quarter with a score of 62-30.
Their game against Tuscola didn't look much different with the Lady Panthers taking home the win with a final score of 57-26, which is shockingly, only their fourth most dominant win of the season. The win brings the Lady Panthers' winning streak to 12 games. They will be playing the Hayesville Yellow Jackets tonight. This will be the first undefeated team that the Panthers have played so far this season.
Boys basketball hopes to recover from two-game skid
The boys' varsity basketball team will look to bounce back from a two game skid tonight when they travel to Hayesville to take on the Yellow Jackets.
Their first loss in the most recent faulter came at the hands of the West Henderson Falcons at the Panther Pit last Wednesday night. The Falcons jumped to an early lead out of the gate, making it seem as though it could turn into a blowout, but Franklin was able to close the distance before the first quarter had come to a close. For the next three quarters, the contest would stay neck and neck and end tied at 54-54 as time expired. In overtime, the Falcons were able to take the win with a final score of 57-56.
The Panther's next defeat came at the hands of conference rival, Tuscola last Friday night in Waynesville. The game once again stayed close during most of regulation until the fourth quarter when the Moutaineers outscored the Panthers 28 to 19, closing it out with a final score of 74-65.
