Basketball

The Lady Panthers took on two tough teams in their last stretch of games. Last Thursday they travelled to Hayesville to take on non-conference opponent, the unbeaten Yellowjackets.

After falling behind 17-13 in the first quarter, Franklin bounced back to outscore Hayesville through the next two quarters, but was unable to maintain that trend in the last one, eventually losing, 50-54.

The team hit the road again on Saturday, this time to Rabun County, Georgia, to take on the Wildcats in another nonconference game. This time, the Lady Panthers saw a different result, sealing the win by a score of 54-48. The win puts the team at a record of 13-2 and unbeaten at 7-0 in the conference.

The boys' team also took on Hayesville and Rabun County over the same span of days.

Against the Yellowjackets, they were able to lead most of the game, but a scoreless, five minute stretch to end the game led to an eventual loss with a score of 44-37.

At Rabun County High School, the Panthers were never able to gain their footing and were outscored in each quarter, eventually losing the contest, 58-73. The losses put the team at an overall record of 4-11, 1-8 conference.

Both teams played last night when they took on the Brevard Blue Devils at the Panther Den.

Their next game will take place tomorrow (Friday) when they travel to Pisgah High School to take on the Bears in a conference game.
