Just five short years after the program started, and three years under the direction of Coach Sarae Thornton, ambitious young runners have climbed their way to the top and secured first place in the conference championship meet.

According to Thornton, Maleah Langstaff showed great leadership throughout the season, placing first in a majority of the meets. Langstaff finished third at the conference meet after posting her personal best time.

Heidi Shope came in eighth overall in the big conference meet followed by ninth overall Faith Bourq.

The RISE Club at Franklin High School held a fundraising event last week to benefit the Shop with the Cop program.

Students were able to buy pieces of duct tape and tape FHS Principal Chris Baldwin and the school's resources officer, Dani Burrows to the wall.

The event raised $125.

The RISE club is focused on inspiring leadership among students.

The club is led by Deputy Dani Burrows and Marci Holland, Student Services Coordinator for Macon County Schools.
